We're Turning into a Farm

Yup, we're slowly turning into a farm around these parts.
First we started with building a raised garden

We planted cauliflower, onions, carrots, spinach, lettuce and peas.
We planted seeds for all except, we had a really hard time finding cauliflower seeds, so we purchased plants.
Everything is starting to sprout, really are so excited!  In a few months we'll have our own produce!
We plan on building a second one next month.
If you are interested in building your own Raised Bed Garden, I found the directions HERE
And on Pinterest I found this cool website where you put in your zip code and it tells you what you are able to plant every month in your area.  It's called Sproutrobot
Definitely check it out, it's awesome!

When we planted the garden, I had to find something quick to use for the markers.  I saw a box of left over plastic forks from one of the birthday parties we had lately.  I used a permanent marker and wrote on the handles and stuck them into the ground.  And they have worked out great!

And this week we added 6 new members to the family!
Baby Chickens
That's right, we got chickens!
We have 3 Rhode Island Reds and 3 Dominique
They are so much fun!  And definitely WAY more entertaining than television!
And we've {and when I say we, I mean my husband and father-in-law} have been working on a coop for them to live in!

What will be next? Maybe a pig? I highly doubt it!

  1. I can't wait to get a garden box! I was shocked to learn how much I LOVE to garden. It's quite relaxing…and before a pic I'd opt for a horse…they are way prettier! Or a cow…free milk?
