Kindness

Like so many of you, I have been deeply saddened by the horrific events that transpired this past Friday in Connecticut.  I have said many prayers on behalf of those families who lost loved ones.  My personal thoughts during this time have been turned to kindness.  I feel that in this country we have lost common decency and have become more self important.  I think that maybe if we would be a little kinder to one another events like this might not happen as often.

I'm reminded of a quote by President Thomas S Monson, "Life is perfect for none of us. Rather than being judgmental and critical of each other, may we have the pure love of Christ for our fellow travelers in this journey through life."

During this Christmas season and when tragedies like this happen, we tend to see more kindness in the world.  But let us commit to be kinder to each other everyday throughout the year.  I love this quote that says, People often forget that kindness is free.

It doesn't take money to show kindness to someone. Smile at someone, give them a flower from your garden.  Open the door for someone, help someone find an item at the grocery store.  The possibilities are endless, and you have no idea how you have changed that person's day.

Thank your child's teacher.  This morning as I dropped my daughter off at her first grade classroom, I gave her teacher a hug and thanked her for being such an incredible teacher.  As I walked away, I could see that she had tears in her eyes.  Teachers do so much for our children and make it a part of their job to keep our children safe.  Lets show them how much we appreciate their hard work.

May we be kinder to each other and show love to one another not only during this holiday season, but everday throughout the entire year
