One Little Word {Balance}

Last year instead of setting New Years resolutions, I chose a single word that I would try and work on for throughout the whole year.  Last year my word was accomplish.  It really helped me to have something to strive towards and contemplate about.  To my surprise, I was able to accomplish many of things that I wanted to this past year. Raised garden, check.  Do a 5k, check. Made the curtains in my family room, check.  Gallery wall in my family room, check.

I thought long and hard about my word for this year. And the word I'm choosing for 2013 is: Balance

In the Merriam-Webster Dictionary they define Balance as:
- an aesthetically pleasing integration of elements
- physical equilibrium
- the ability to retain one's balance
- mental and emotional steadiness
- to bring to a state or position of equipoise
- to bring into harmony or proportion

This next year I going to try and work on my Balance,
Balancing my family {my husband and children}
Balancing working on My blog
Balancing working on My Etsy Shop
Balancing time for myself {losing weight, exercising, relaxing when I have a chance}

By spending equal time on each of these for things: my family, blogging, my shop and myself; I feel that I will be happier and in turn my family will be as well.  Like this quote from Albert Einstein says, I'm going to strive to keep moving and work hard to achieve balance in my life.

What is your word for 2013?

  4. I've been doing the "pick-a-word-for-the-year" thing for YEARS. Like since high school. The first word I speak after midnight on the 1st is what I'm striving for in the new year. My 2013 word is a new one for me: romance! ;)
